ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The decision of the High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina to relieve Ante Jelavic and another three senior officials of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH (HDZ BiH) of their public and party duties has

ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The decision of the High Representative to
Bosnia-Herzegovina to relieve Ante Jelavic and another three
senior officials of the Croatian Democratic Union of BiH (HDZ BiH)
of their public and party duties has been expected since the series
of events took place which led to the self-isolation of the HDZ BiH
leadership from the international community, Croatia's Foreign
Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday evening.
Prior to last Saturday's event in Mostar, Zagreb officially
cautioned the HDZ BiH leadership against radicalising the
relationships, but the latter did not respect the warning.
We hope that such a decision of the international High
Representative Wolfgang Petritsch will be a contribution to the
stabilisation of Bosnia, as his decision sanctioned individuals
owing to their political obstructions, and not the entire political
party or the people, the spokesman Goran Rotim told Hina on
Wednesday evening.
Earlier in the day Petritsch declared Jelavic and another three HDZ
BiH officials - Ivo Andric Luzanski, Marko Tokic and Zdravko
Batinic - accountable for the violation of the Dayton peace accords
and undermining the constitutional order, and therefore he barred
them from any official or party office.
Last Saturday the Croat National Assembly, led by the HDZ BiH,
decided to establish an inter-cantonal and inter-municipal council
as temporary Croat self-government in the Croat-dominated areas of
the country.
The strongest Croat party in Bosnia has the biggest responsibility
for policies and prospects of Bosnian Croats. The electoral
success, based partially on the justified concern of the Croat
people, should not have been misused for imposing an unviable
political project, the spokesman added.
Croatia has taken and takes a series of diplomatic activities to
ease the political communications inside Bosnia, and we shall
inform responsible factors abroad about our stands, the spokesman
Rotim added.
