ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - The Croat National Assembly in Mostar Saturday proclaimed a temporary Croat self-government in areas mostly populated by Bosnian Croats, and suspended the authority of Bosnia-Herzegovina's government bodies,

Nobody has the mandate to on behalf of the Croat people in Bosnia-Herzegovina make such decisions which bind nobody, Kramaric stressed, asking what was the sense of such a decision which has no support in political reality. ZAGREB, March 3 (Hina) - The Croat National Assembly in Mostar
Saturday proclaimed a temporary Croat self-government in areas
mostly populated by Bosnian Croats, and suspended the authority of
Bosnia-Herzegovina's government bodies, causing various
reactions from political parties in Croatia.
President of the Liberal Party Zlatko Kramaric said the Assembly
decision was neither wise nor responsible, not to mention well
planned.
Nobody has the mandate to on behalf of the Croat people in Bosnia-
Herzegovina make such decisions which bind nobody, Kramaric
stressed, asking what was the sense of such a decision which has no
support in political reality.
The LS president warned that the decision of the Croatian Peoples'
Party (HNS) could refer to Croatia, which is a signatory to the
Dayton Agreement. This is a new pressure and challenge for Croatia,
Kramaric said.
Vice-president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS),
Djurdja Adlesic, voiced reserves towards today's decision and
stressed that dialogue was a better way of solving problems than an
ultimatum.
Vice-president of the Istrian Democratic Assembly Damir Kajin said
the Assembly initiative was utterly avanturist, unsustainable and
frivolous.
One day Bosnian Croats will have to ask themselves where the HDZ
(Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina) policy has led
them, dividing Bosnia, causing conflicts between Croats and
Moslems. Today the number of Bosnian Croats has been reduced to a
third, he said.
Democratic Centre president Mate Granic is concerned with the
decision and holds it will cause tensions with the international
community which will have a unified stance in denouncing the
initiative.
The OSCE, Granic said, made a mistake changing electoral rules at
the last moment in elections for representatives in the Bosnian
House of Peoples.
The DC advocates a regular procedure in which the decision would be
changed with the help of Croatia, OSCE and other organisations;
every people has the right to choose its representatives in
parliament. This is the essence of the Dayton Agreement, he said.
The Assembly decision will in any case give rise to a reaction from
the international community and I fear that Bosnia-Herzegovina is
entering a very unstable period, Mate Granic concluded.
The Croatian Party of Rights fully supports the Croat National
Assembly's decisions. They are legitimate and legal, and show the
will of the Croat people, president Anto Djapic stressed.
The Croatian Christian Democratic Union endorses the same
decision.
