ZAGREB, Feb 21 (Hina) - Representatives of 11 war veterans' associations on Wednesday gave a positive assessment of a protest rally held in Zagreb on the 15th. They said in conclusions reached at today's meeting that the rally had
given the public, veterans and their families the unambiguous message that they would persevere in a fair struggle for the preservation of the values and dignity of the Homeland Defence War, the early 1990s war of independence from the ex-Yugoslavia. The conclusions also endorse the signing of a petition calling for a referendum on "stopping the persecution of veterans." The conclusions deny the existence of a connection between veterans' associations and political parties, and point out that in the future the associations will act as non-governmental and non-political organisations.(hina) ha sb
