HIGH REPRESENTATIVE FIRES BOSNIAN FEDERATION EX-PREMIER

SARAJEVO, Feb 23 (Hina) - High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina Wolfgang Petritsch on Friday dismissed the director of the country's electric power supply company, Edhem Bicakcic, until recently the prime minister of the Bosnian Federation. The Office of the High Representative (OHR) explained the former premier had abused his authority, diverting public profit through a complex and corrupted system of financial embezzlement, whereby large amounts of money even ended up in the cash register of the Party of Democratic Action. His financial embezzlements were damaging to the execution of authority, rule of law and budgetary security of the Bosnian-Federation, the OHR said in a statement. The Bosnian Croat-Moslem entity's financial agents are currently carrying out an inquiry against Bicakcic, his deputy Dragan Covic and Finance Minister Mehmed Alijagic for illegal transfers of about 825,000 German marks from the Bosnian Federation's current account reserves to an account of a war veterans' association.
