ZAGREB, Feb 10 (Hina) - Unlike other veterans associations, Veterans of Croatia on Saturday said that the "latest political manipulation with the case of General Norac does not aim to defend the Croatian general but establish a
political scenario, 'the worse the better', whose ultimate goal is to annul parliamentary elections and subvert Croatia's constitutional order". "We, Veterans of Croatia as well as the citizens who were humiliated and pillaged by the former authorities give our full support to the legally and democratically elected authorities, the President of State... and... Veterans of Croatia on Saturday said that the "latest political
manipulation with the case of General Norac does not aim to defend
the Croatian general but establish a political scenario, 'the worse
the better', whose ultimate goal is to annul parliamentary
elections and subvert Croatia's constitutional order".
"We, Veterans of Croatia as well as the citizens who were humiliated
and pillaged by the former authorities give our full support to the
legally and democratically elected authorities, the President of
State... and... Government, in attempts to finally ensure the
functioning of the rule-of-law and prevent chaos in the country",
read the statement signed by General in reserve Bozo Budimir.
The association believes that protests against the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) "have turned
into protests against the Croatian judiciary, already during its
first attempt to try to solve it in line with the legislation".
The statement also condemned the violent behaviour of some
associations, media, and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), as
well as "an unexpected silence" from the Catholic Church leadership
regarding inappropriate statements of some prelates.
The association called upon all veterans associations and all
factors of Croatia's society to establish a public and partnership
dialogue for the solving of the crisis by democratic means. The
association also called upon the institutions of the Croatian
authorities to protect Croatia's constitutional order.
