ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - The Parliament's House of Counties on Thursday adopted a conclusion saying it is necessary to redefine cooperation with the Hague tribunal, as well as that the cooperation should not be an obstacle to Croatia's
admission to European associations, particularly as Croatia was very compliant with the tribunal's requests. Under no conditions must the degradation of the Homeland War be allowed, especially of the 'Flash' and 'Storm' operations, reads the conclusion, which was suggested by the Committee on Foreign Policy following a debate on Croatia's foreign policy and international position, conducted more than a month ago. ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - The Parliament's House of Counties on
Thursday adopted a conclusion saying it is necessary to redefine
cooperation with the Hague tribunal, as well as that the
cooperation should not be an obstacle to Croatia's admission to
European associations, particularly as Croatia was very compliant
with the tribunal's requests.
Under no conditions must the degradation of the Homeland War be
allowed, especially of the 'Flash' and 'Storm' operations, reads
the conclusion, which was suggested by the Committee on Foreign
Policy following a debate on Croatia's foreign policy and
international position, conducted more than a month ago.
According to the conclusion, the government must secure the
consistency of its foreign policy and full protection of national
interests. Its cooperation with neighbours must be purposeful and
transparent and directed to better political and economic
relations. The conclusion was supported without a debate.
Completing today's session, the deputies insisted that the upper
house should be preserved, i.e. that changes to the Constitution
not be made for the sake of dissolving that parliamentary chamber
alone.
The House of Counties formed a group which will be in charge of
following future activities regarding constitutional changes and
report about it to the chamber.
Without a debate the deputies supported a bill on salaries in public
services under which the system of wage categories would be
discontinued and wages calculated in a simpler way, but rejected a
final bill on Croatian Radio Television. The bill was supported
last week by the House of Representatives. In the next 15 days,
attempts will be made to harmonise the stands on the bill at the
Committee for Adjustment.
The upper house continues its session tomorrow.
