ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - Parliament's House of Counties moved on Wednesday that the House of Representatives draft and pass legislation to permanently regulate the criminal prosecution of veterans, an issue upsetting the soldiers who
defended and liberated Croatia from an early 1990s Serb aggression. The motion is contained in a set of conclusions the upper house adopted with votes of the majority-holding Croatian Democratic Union and the Croatian Party of Rights after a debate on the current political situation. Forwarding the motion to the lower house, the House of Counties assessed that if it were okayed, the motion would eliminate the cause of current rifts and strong social conflicts and thereby dangerous instability in the country. Upper house MPs also agreed the House of Counties should not be dissolved but given a long-term role and powers.(hina) ha sb
