BELGRADE, Jan 29 (Hina) - During her visit to Belgrade on January 23-25, the chief prosecutor of the Hague war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Carla del Ponte, handed Yugoslav state officials requests for the hand-over
of and evidence on war crimes committed by a Bosnian Serb general, Ratko Mladic, and a former Bosnian Serb political leader, Slavko Zupljanin, the Belgrade daily 'Blic' reported on Monday. The daily quoted a source close to the ICTY as saying the transfer or extradition of foreign nationals was far easier to carry out than the hand-over of Yugoslav citizens. Requests for the hand-over of Mladic and Zupljanin and their transfer to The Hague, the unidentified source said, is a test of readiness of the new Yugoslav authorities to cooperate with the Tribunal.(hina) rml
