BAVARIAN OFFICIALS VISIT CROATIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

ZAGREB, Jan 29 (Hina) - The construction of infrastructure, air, maritime and road transport, and the power industry in particular are areas of greatest interest of Bavarian business people, Bavaria's Minister of Economy, Transport and Technology Otto Wiesheu said during a visit to the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) on Monday. Electrical engineering and computer industry will register the highest growth in the next several years, Wiesheu estimated. Bavaria, which currently has 800 companies in that sector, lacks more than 4,000 experts in various fields to follow that growth, he said. Croatia is known for having a highly educated work force and that could be the basis for continuing the successful cooperation between the two countries in terms of joint investments, Wiesheu said. The Bavarian official said a Croatian economic forum, to be held in Munich on February 16, would provide an opportunity for that cooperation to result in more concrete projects. HGK president Nadan Vidosevic informed the Bavarian delegation about the current economic situation in Croatia and changes to the country's tax and customs legislation. Apart from the power industry, transport and the infrastructure, the Croatian officials also proposed machine construction and car, wood-processing and textile industries as areas of possible cooperation.
