DAVOS - MESIC SAYS LAGGING BEHIND IN COMPUTER SCIENCE EXPENSIVE

DAVOS, Jan 28 (Hina) - Those out of step with progress in computer science will always lag behind those more developed in this field, Croatian President Stipe Mesic said in Davos, Switzerland on Sunday, where he is attending the World Economic Forum. Speaking to Croatian reporters covering the event, Mesic spoke about the talks he held over a working lunch earlier today with delegation chiefs of states and representatives of the world's biggest businessmen attending the forum. Also present was Microsoft president Bill Gates, who yesterday announced a $100 million donation for AIDS research. Today he urged other wealthy people in the world to contribute to fighting the disease. As regards computer science in Croatia, President Mesic told the Croatian members of the press it could be ranked among the more developed countries. He added computer science education should be introduced in elementary schools and resumed throughout schooling. Today's talks also tackled bio-genetics. The participants in the working lunch agreed every state needed legislation on this issue, and that it was necessary to reach an agreement on how to manufacture food and how to treat food manufacturing.
