DEPUTY PM STANDS BY HIS SHARPLY WORDED CRITICISM OF COURT DECISION

ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - A Croatian Deputy Prime Minister, Slavko Linic, on Thursday stated he abode by his assessment that the it was a detrimental ruling which the Administrative Court recently made on the annulment of the ownership transformation of the Port of Rijeka. At a news conference he held today, Linic admitted that the tone of his statement was too severe, but he refused objections that with commenting on the final court ruling he had jeopardised the democratic system and the independence of judiciary. "When a ruling is final, any kind of commentary is not the pressure on the judiciary nor is it interference with its work. Every citizen has the right to comment on every final ruling," Linic said adding that he would continue commenting on court decisions as he felt it was his obligation as long as he was a Deputy PM.
