ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - Croatian sports marked its day at Zagreb's Croatian National Theatre on Wednesday on the eighth anniversary of the Croatian Olympic Committee's (HHO) admission into the International Olympic Committee.

The event, held under the auspices of President Stipe Mesic, was
attended by numerous athletes and guests, as well as by President
Mesic, First Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic, and Zagreb Mayor
Milan Bandic.
Welcoming the present, HHO president Zdravko Hebel among else said
that over the past ten years, Croatian athletes had won 1,464
international medals, including seven Olympic decorations.
Skier Janica Kostelic and weight lifter Nikolaj Pesalov were voted
by HHO best Croatian athletes in 2000, while swimmer Gordan Kozulj
won a HHO award for most successful promoter of Croatia in the world
in 2000.
