PRISTINA, Jan 14 (Hina) - The new UN civilian administrator for Kosovo, former Danish defence minister, Hans Haekkerup, on Saturday arrived in Kosovo to take over the office from the outgoing administrator, Bernard Kouchner. The
Frenchman, who left this duty after being the administrator for 18 months, handed over powers to Haekkerup at the Pristina airport yesterday. Prior to his departure Kouchner said "the first thing the new UN administrator, Hans Haekkerup, should do is to consistently implement UN security Council's Resolution 1244 and make a decision on the conduct of general elections in Kosovo." Upon his arrival in Pristina the Dane did not address reporters. However, he is expected to hold a news conference on Monday when he officially takes the post. (hina) ms
