Sovagovic, born in Ladimirevci, near Valpovo, eastern Croatia, on 4
January 1932, graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts in
1959.
He achieved renown as a stage actor, and became a famous film actor
in this region.
Since his first role in a movie in 1957, Sovagovic played some 120
leading and supporting roles in feature-length films.
Sovagovic wrote a book entitled "Glumcevi Zapisi (An Actor's
Records)" in 1977 and a play "Sokol Ga Nije Volio (Sokol Didn't Like
Him)" in 1982. The latter work was adapted as a film in which he
played the lead role.
He worked with screen-writers.
A few prizes, including the Life Achievement Award, were bestowed
on this famous Croatian.
