Future talks on Kosovo's final status will not divert attention
from the most important goal - the building of a democratic,
multiethnic and promising society, where all communities will
learn how to live with one another in peace and safety, Solana said
in an interview with the latest issue of Pristina's Albanian-
language weekly "Zeri".
The EU will encourage people in Kosovo and transitional
institutions to make maximum efforts to achieve certain standards
before talks on the province's final status start. One of those
standards is dialogue and the normalisation of relations between
Kosovo and Belgrade, which should be the main priority of Kosovo's
institutions, Solana said.
Unilateral acts by any of the sides can threaten the process of
dialogue, Solana said.
The EU official called on Kosovo politicians to responsibly
contribute to the establishment of a society based on the rule-of-
law and judicial independence.
