ZAGREB, Dec 19 (Hina) - Croatia's customs union decided not to go on

The strike, which was to be held on December 19-27, is postponed
until the Zagreb County Court makes a decision on the matter. The
first court hearing was held today and will resume on Monday, it was
said at a news conference.
"We have decided not to go on strike in order to avoid causing damage
to Croatian citizens, but the government will bear the consequences
eventually because it cannot expect dissatisfied customs officers
to fill the state budget," union leader Zeljko Popovic said.
The union seeks a 25 percent pay increase, a correction of
coefficients, an accelerated retirement plan, and the signing of a
branch collective agreement.
