"That about satisfies me," Mesic told reporters before the
promotion of the first generation of economy graduates at the
private VERN college.
Asked to comment on a consensus parliament reached yesterday
regarding a programme of Croatia's association with the European
Union, the President said that some 18 months ago he proposed
reaching a consensus on four or five strategic issues, including on
bids to draw closer to the EU, but that many turned a deaf ear.
"Now I see that some others are laying claim to that proposal, but I
give it to them," said Mesic.
He was also asked to comment on announcements that the U.N. war
crimes tribunal had requested the government to submit a full list
of transcripts of conversations held at the office of former
President Franjo Tudjman.
"Considering that we have a law on cooperation with the Hague
tribunal we are only executing our obligations," Mesic said.
