PRISTINA, Dec 17 (Hina) - The trial of five high ranking commanders of the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), aka the Dukagjinia group, charged with the murder of four persons and illegal detention and abuse of fellow countrymen in
late June 1999 after the arrival of international peace-keepers, ended before the Pristina County Court on Monday. International prosecutor Comoudoni Naysulu and defence attorneys held their closings Monday. The panel of judges, presided by international judge Maurice de Thevenard, is expected to pass a verdict on Tuesday. The defence attorneys of the five defendants are convinced that their clients Idriz Balaj, Daut Haradinaj, Ahmet Elshani, Bislim Zeka and Ramush Ahmetaj will be acquitted. The trial is considered as one of the most important court proceedings after the war in Kosovo ended in June 1999.
