Prodi said at the end of the EU expansion summit in Copenhagen on
Friday, at which ten new candidates were admitted, the enlargement
process was not over. The EU's doors are open to the friends in the
Balkans and the Union is waiting for them, he told reporters. #L#
Referring to the South Eastern Europe countries participating in
the Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP), the European
Council in the summit's conclusions reminds Croatia, Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, and Albania of the criteria
defined at EU's Copenhagen summit of 1993 and reaffirms their
European prospects.
In a chapter on the expanded Union and its neighbours, the Council
also stresses its determination to support the western Balkan
countries' bids to draw closer to the European Union.
