Thursday hailed the Croatia-Yugoslavia protocol on a temporary border regime on Prevlaka and officially marked the end of the mandate of the U.N. Mission of Observers (UNMOP) on that southernmost Croatian peninsula. A presidential statement says that the agreement between Croatia and Yugoslavia represented a new step forward in the process of strengthening trust and good neighbourly relations between the two countries. The Security Council welcomes the determination of the two governments to continue negotiations on the Prevlaka issue with a wish to resolve other issues in a friendly atmosphere.
