SPLIT, Nov 22 (Hina) - A Split County Court panel of judges presided by Slavko Lozina on Friday unanimously acquitted eight former military police who were charged with war crimes against civilians committed at Split's former military
prison Lora in 1992.

by Slavko Lozina on Friday unanimously acquitted eight former
military police who were charged with war crimes against civilians
committed at Split's former military prison Lora in 1992. #L#
The defendants were freed of charges which claimed that contrary to
regulations of Geneva conventions and without legal grounds they
detained and physically and psychologically abused persons of whom
most were Croatian Serbs.
The five defendants who stood trial, Andjelko Botic, Ante Gudic,
Emilio Bungur, Davor Banic, and Tonci Vrkic, were let go. Arrest
warrants for the three who are at large, Tomislav Duic, Josip Bikic,
and Miljenko Bajic, were put out of force.
Judge Lozina said the panel of judges reached the verdict
unanimously.
Prosecutor Michele Squiccimarro announced an appeal with the
Supreme Court.
