VUKOVAR, Nov 25 (Hina) - The Croatian government's Office for Detained and Missing Persons on Monday started exhuming the remains of the victims of the Serb aggression on Croatia, buried in the area of Sabac, Yugoslavia. The Office,
which is cooperating with the Yugoslav Commission for Humanitarian Issues and Missing Persons, expects that the remains of around 50 persons will be exhumed in the Sabac area, the head of the Croatian commission, Colonel Ivan Grujic, told reporters.
VUKOVAR, Nov 25 (Hina) - The Croatian government's Office for
Detained and Missing Persons on Monday started exhuming the remains
of the victims of the Serb aggression on Croatia, buried in the area
of Sabac, Yugoslavia.
The Office, which is cooperating with the Yugoslav Commission for
Humanitarian Issues and Missing Persons, expects that the remains
of around 50 persons will be exhumed in the Sabac area, the head of
the Croatian commission, Colonel Ivan Grujic, told reporters. #L#
During talks with representatives of associations and families of
missing and detained Croatian soldiers and civilians from Vukovar
and Osijek counties, Grujic repeated that the remains of at least
300 persons were still buried in Yugoslavia.
The remains of 171 people were exhumed at cemeteries in Novi Sad and
Sremska Mitrovica in Yugoslavia, Grujic said, adding there was a
possibility that the remains of another 60 people buried in the area
of Belgrade would be exhumed by the end of this year.
The Croatian authorities are still looking for 1,334 people, of
whom 617 are from Vukovar County. So far, 1,912 victims have been
exhumed and 49 mass graves discovered in the county.
