Since its establishment in 1990, the centre has been financed
primarily with donations, but every year it faces the threat of
being closed down due to lack of permanent funding.
PM Racan said government officials would on Monday meet the
centre's representatives to discuss ways to secure permanent
funding and open shelters in other Croatian towns.
Every day the centre is contacted by around 15 women from all over
the country seeking accommodation and protection and receives
around 300 calls for psychological and legal help.
The association spends more than 1,300,000 kuna for accommodation,
food, and medical, legal and psychological help.
There are currently 10 women with 20 children at the centre.
The tickets for tomorrow's fund-raising concert, to be held in the
Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall, were sold in the Cvjetni Square by
PM Racan's wife, Dijana Plestina.
