DOMAZET DISCONTINUES INTERVIEW WITH ICTY INVESTIGATORS - PART II

ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - The extraordinary press conference was also attended by Domazet's attorney Branko Seric, who was present the whole time during Domazet's interview with the Hague-based war crimes tribunal prosecutors. "An unusual and extraordinary situation occurred. We discontinued the talks because even after 15 hours of interrogation the Admiral had not been told what is he suspected of," Seric told reporters. According to him, the ICTY investigators used the same legal means, known to everybody, as they had in the indictment against General Janko Bobetko. "We can speak only about concrete alleged crimes which had been committed and Admiral Domazet's possible role in them, but this was not addressed at all. This is why we discontinued the interview," Seric said. Retired Admiral Davorin Domazet Loso particularly wanted to emphasise the fact that he had conducted the same duty as Branko Krga in
ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - The extraordinary press conference was also attended by Domazet's attorney Branko Seric, who was present the whole time during Domazet's interview with the Hague-based war crimes tribunal prosecutors. Retired Admiral Davorin Domazet Loso particularly wanted to emphasise the fact that he had conducted the same duty as Branko Krga in the Serb forces, who was received by U.N Secretary-General Kofi Annan in Belgrade on Thursday, at the same time when Domazet started his interview, in his capacity as suspect, with the ICTY investigators. "Such an absurd situation does not exist anywhere, not even in Greek tragedies, that the one who carried out attacks on a country is received by representatives of biggest international organisations, and the one who defended his country is sitting before ICTY investigators," Domazet told reporters. He reiterated that he respected all international institutions, including the ICTY, but, as he said, there were certain limits to everything. "The entire Medak Pocket operation is being criminalised, as well as all other Homeland War operations," Domazet said and added he could not accept that. Asked if and under what conditions his client would return to the interview with the ICTY investigators, attorney Seric said the admiral would do so after concrete accusations for concrete operations were presented to him and after evidence to support such claims were shown. Domazet started the interview with the Hague-based tribunal investigators in his capacity as suspect on Tuesday when he spoke about the nature, role and position of the military-intelligence service in the Croatian Armed Forces, of which he was the head between 1991 and 1997. On the second day of his interview, Wednesday, Domazet spoke about the liberation operation in the Medak Pocket and his role. According to announcements, during his testimony today, the admiral should have answered questions regarding the military and police operations of Storm and Flash. (hina) it sb
