ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Thursday resumed its session with a debate on moved amendments to the law on income tax which foresees an increase of the basic personal deduction from 1,250 to 1,500 kuna per month
(from 15,000 to 18,000 kuna per year).

its session with a debate on moved amendments to the law on income
tax which foresees an increase of the basic personal deduction from
1,250 to 1,500 kuna per month (from 15,000 to 18,000 kuna per year).

Deputy Finance Minister Damir Kustrak said in parliament that under
the amendments, deductions which vary from 2,250 to 3,750 kuna per
month, would remain, but they would be recognised in annual in stead
of monthly financial reports.
Under the amendments, citizens will be able to exercise the right to
tax deductions in the supply of medications, orthopaedic aids, and
surgeries in an unlimited amount.
Tax deductions will also apply during the purchase or building of a
house or an apartment, renovation of apartments. The highest amount
of tax deduction is 12,000 kuna per year.
Kustrak said that under the amendments, subtenants would also have
the right to a 50 percent deduction from their rent, also amounting
to up to 12,000 kuna per year.
