ZAGREB, Nov 20 (Hina) - "We expect the parliament to, by mid December, approve the government's proposal on the departure of the Croatian Armed Forces Military Police to the U.N. Peace Mission in Afghanistan," Deputy Defence Minister

December, approve the government's proposal on the departure of the
Croatian Armed Forces Military Police to the U.N. Peace Mission in

After necessary procedure and preparations, a Croatian Military
Police platoon will travel to Afghanistan by the end of the first
quarter of next year, as the first armed unit of the Croatian Armed
Forces in a U.N. international peace mission.
Croatian military policemen will be in Afghanistan as a part of the
German contingent which also includes Austrians and Danes.
Since 1999, Croatian officers have been participating as unarmed
military observers in U.N missions in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL),
Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).
