Canton Prosecutor Mustafa Bisic confirmed in a phone interview to
the daily that the police had pressed charges against several
people suspected of involvement in illegal arms trade, but refused
to reveal their identity.
The police have established that by selling several obsolete
carriers to Israel the Defence Ministry has caused US$2.1 million
worth of damage to the federal budget, and by selling 50,000 rifles
to an unknown client from the United States another US$300,000.
For weeks now Bosnia-Herzegovina has been rocked by a scandal
caused by the sale of arms to Iraq by a Bosnian Serb firm.
