According to the data, with 2,024,950 residents, the northern
province of Vojvodina has seen a population increase of 58,120
compared to 1991, which is believed to be the result of a large
number of refugees who arrived in the province, "making up" for some
200,000 departures over the past ten years.
Population increases were also registered in Belgrade, and parts of
the Backa, Srijem and Macva regions.
Serbia has 2,614,847 households, which is 196,691 more than in
1991. An average household has 2.86 members and the data further
show that Serbia has a negative birth rate, i.e. the number of
deceased people is higher than the number of newborns.
