ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - As many as 55 percent of Croatian citizens do

savings in banks, according to a research conducted by the Zagreb-
based GfK Market Research Centre. #L#
Sixteen percent of those who save pay a life insurance policy, while
ten percent keep cash at home. Only four percent save in some other
way, for example through housing savings banks, by purchasing real
estate or works of art, investing in a business, or depositing money
outside Croatia.
GfK has been monitoring the financial market for three years now on
1,000 adult citizens. The results issued on Monday refer to a
research conducted in September.
This year's results are better than last year's, said GfK. While in
2000 and 2001 every fifth citizen of those who saved did so in banks,
this year every fourth does so. The share of citizens who do not save
has dropped from 62 percent in 2000 to 55 percent this year.
