ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Saturday
dismissed as incorrect claims made by the International Club of
Croatian Emigrants, Returnees and Investors in today's issue of
"Jutarnji list" daily to the effect that Foreign Minister Tonino
Picula was refusing to cooperate with the diaspora. #L#
The claims the Porec-based Club made in the daily represent a crude
and ill-intentioned falsification of the truth, the Ministry said
in a statement today.
The Club first contacted the Ministry officially in February 2001,
and Minister Picula responded to the Club in writing on several
occasions, supporting its initiatives, the Ministry said.
Picula, however, had to turn down the Club's invitation that he
participate in the first Croatian diaspora assembly in May due to
other, previously arranged commitments.
Claims that the minister is allegedly uninterested in co-operating
with the diaspora and economic cooperation with other countries are
illogical and untrue, which is evident in Picula's work, the
Foreign Ministry statement said.
