ZAGREB, Oct 17 (Hina) - The State Judicial Council (DSV) on Thursday
gave the green light to the beginning of the criminal proceedings
against a Split judge, Slavko Lozina, accused of a criminal act of
causing a traffic accident and failing to offer first aid to an
injured person. #L#
Earlier this month the Sibenik-based municipal State Prosecution
asked that Lozina be stripped of immunity as a judge, after an
indictment with counts on two criminal acts was issued.
According to the indictment, on 18 April Lozina caused a car
accident in Split, in which a man was seriously injured, but Lozina
fled the site of the accident and failed to offer aid to the injured
man.
Lozina gave his statement to police and an investigating judge,
saying that at the time of the accident he had been driving along the
street in question but said he had not caused it.
After a short discussion and the voting which took some time behind
the closed doors, the DSV established that there was the founded
suspicion that Lozina had committed a criminal act for which he was
indicted, and therefore the council stripped him of immunity.
