ZAGREB, Oct 16 (Hina) - The chairman of the Croatian Sabor Foreign

Bobetko case against whom the Hague-based Tribunal indicted for war

"I believe that there will not be any sanctions because we have come
out of colonialism," Tomac told journalists, speaking in the
Croatian Sabor.
"If Croatia were to have sanctions imposed against it because of its
actions to date and if we were to be suspended because of them then I
can personally say that we have nothing to look for there even
though we have endeavoured to access the EU and NATO," added Tomac.
He estimated that it was disappointing that Great Britain on the one
hand supported the USA and that US soldiers should not be held
responsible for war crimes before international courts while on the
other hand it had forbidden Croatia the right to utilise all legal
opportunities available.
"Therefore, in the present situation, I believe that we are faced
only with a bad and slightly less bad possibility," Tomac said.
"We need to look for certain compromises - it is one thing when you
speak with the heart about justice and another is real politics
where you need to add and subtract and see what compromise we will be
compelled to accept," Tomac continued.
He added that is was misfortunate "that we are not united",
assessing that it was obvious the media and politicians with their
actions were in fact calling for sanctions.
