The seminar, which is held at the Croatian History Institute under
the auspices of the Croatian government and the Ministry of Science
and Technology, has gathered, for the first time in more than 800
years of Croatian-Hungarian relations, historians from the two
countries who are to consider said period on the principles of
modern historiography.
During the 816 years of common history, the identity of either the
Croats or Hungarians was never disputable, Hungarian Ambassador
Gyeoergy Csoti said. Citing the words of Croatian writer Miroslav
Krleza, that "one can write a book about Croatian-Hungarian
disputes and a library about their unity", Csoti said that the
current policies of the two countries shared the same goal - joining
Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
All speakers at the seminar stressed the importance of such
meetings for a better understanding of the past and the future.
