Dubrovnik, laid wreaths in the city's cemetery "Boninovo" and paid tribute to all victims of the Homeland War, on Tuesday when it was the 11th anniversary of the beginning of the attacks which the then JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) launched against Dubrovnik.
DUBROVNIK, Oct 1 (Hina) - Representatives of the Croatian society
of inmates who used to be detained in the Serb concentration camps,
and a delegation of the city of Dubrovnik, laid wreaths in the
city's cemetery "Boninovo" and paid tribute to all victims of the
Homeland War, on Tuesday when it was the 11th anniversary of the
beginning of the attacks which the then JNA (Yugoslav People's
Army) launched against Dubrovnik. #L#
During the aggression against Dubrovnik, over 300 soldiers and
civilians lost their lives, over 500 sustained injuries, and 336
local inhabitants at the age between 15 and 86 were taken to Serbian
and Montenegrin detention camps.
Most villages in the surrounding of Dubrovnik were destroyed,
33,000 people had to flee their homes, and many business facilities
and cultural monuments were demolished. The direct material damage
is assessed to have been 325 million euros.
