ZAGREB, Sept 28 (Hina) - Health Minister Andro Vlahusic has announced that the government will propose to the parliament that the budgetary funding for public health increase by one billion kuna (approximately 137 million euros) in 2003. #L# The total funds to be earmarked for this purpose will thus rise by eight percent to 13.9 billion kuna (EUR1.9 billion) in 2003, Minister Vlahusic said on Saturday during his lecture at an international conference on health insurance in countries in transition, in Zagreb. Commenting on the additional health insurance in Croatia, Vlahusic said that in the first four months since its introduction, 716,000 insurees paid it, and this was 30 percent of a total number of citizens who had the right to additional insurance. Of those 716,000, about 340,000 were pensioners. Our objective is to collect one billion kuna annually from the additional insurance and to encompass 1.2 million insured persons, the minister added. The additional insurance covers services of specialists, doctors' consultations, drugs and orthopaedic aid. (hina) ms
