The statement was released, as noted, in regard to speculation that
appeared in some media, according to which President Mesic received
warnings from the world about possible deterioration of Croatia's
international position should General Bobetko not be extradited to
the Hague-based tribunal, as well as possible speculation that
differences in opinion existed between the President and the
government.
In this regard, President Mesic is in constant consultation with
the Croatian government and is being informed about the steps being
taken legally and politically in relation to the demand to
extradite General Bobetko which was delivered to the Croatian
Government by the Hague-based tribunal.
