All the three suspects pleaded not guilty for the crime they are
charged with.
The family of the late Borovic also made statements before the
Court. Borovic's widow said that on that evening which was Orthodox
Christmas Eve, following several days of threats, the suspects came
to their home. Borovic opened the door. The Bulj brothers were
carrying clubs in their hands while Basic was carrying a huge rock.
The late Borovic offered them wine and went to pour it when they
began to beat him and dragged him out of the house. They took him to
the barn, about six metres away from the house and his wife said that
she could hear his cries for help.
After about twenty minutes, the police arrived after receiving a
call from the neighbours. The three had fled though. The late
Borovic was taken to Sinj hospital and then later transferred to
Split hospital where he died 28 days later.
The judicial council presided by Judge Marija Majic scheduled the
next hearing for October 28 and ordered that the neighbours and
police who attended the scene be subpoenaed to testify.
