One of the group's members, Privredna Banka Zagreb (PBZ) made 310.5
million kuna (EUR42 million) in post-taxation profit in said
period, which was an increase of 26.5 as against the first half of
2001. That year, PBZ had the biggest annual profit in Croatia's
banking sector, the bank said on Thursday.
All PBZ Group members made a profit in this year's first six months,
mainly due to higher revenue resulting from regular operations,
especially higher loans and a higher issuance of bonds, especially
corporate ones.
The results were also helped by a high number of new clients.
PBZ's assets in this year's first half grew by 5.5 percent as
against the end of 2001, amounting on June 30 to 29.13 billion kuna
(EUR3.9 billion).
Loans to citizens amounted to 7.06 billion kuna (EUR954 million),
an increase of 36 percent as against the end of 2001, while gross
loans to companies grew by 3.4 percent and amounted to 7.07 billion
kuna.
Total deposits grew by 10.3 percent and amount to 21.32 billion kuna
(EUR2.9 billion), including 13 billion kuna (EUR1.8 billion) in
citizens' deposits.
