LJUBLJANA, Sept 9 (Hina) - The Office of Slovenia's Prime Minister
Janez Drnovsek on Monday evening confirmed that Drnovsek would meet
his Croatian counterpart Ivica Racan in Zagreb on Tuesday. #L#
As the Slovene STA news agency reported, Drnovsek will have a 30-
minute talk with Racan at the Croatian government starting at 10 am.
This will be followed by official talks between delegations from
both countries, including the foreign ministers, and a press
conference by both premiers. Drnovsek will meet with Croatian
parliament president Zlatko Tomcic as well as President Stjepan
Mesic.
The Ljubljana-based "Delo" daily, commenting on the fact that the
holding of the Racan-Drnovsek meeting was uncertain until late
tonight, says in Tuesday's issue that Slovenia was inclined to
postpone the meeting by a week.
The same daily writes that the focus of Drnovsek's visit to Zagreb
will be a meeting with Racan during which, as the daily notes,
Drnovsek will insist on the avoidance of border incidents. Other
questions, such as joint ownership of the Krsko nuclear power
plant, and Ljubljanska Bank's debts to Croatian depositors, will
probably not be dealt with due to the limited time.
"Delo" notes that Slovene diplomatic circles mentioned that a
possible solution to the fishing issue in Piran Bay involved an
annex to the existing local border agreement which would reduce the
area where both Slovene and Croatian fisherman would be permitted
to fish in the bay.
