The fair was opened in front of numerous guests by the sponsor,
parliamentary president Zlatko Tomcic. He emphasised that
Croatia's objective were reforms in agriculture and for state-
owned property to be put into the hands of farmers and for
agricultural companies to become involved in manufacturing.
Tomcic estimated that in the past year, evident progress had been
made in cattle breeding. Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bozidar
Pankretic confirmed this saying that in 2001 a stop was put to the
fall in cattle numbers and milk production had grown.
Amongst the numerous guests in attendance at the opening was French
Ambassador Francis Bellanger, deputy Bosnian Federation
Agriculture Minister Kreso Pehar and Slovenia's Agriculture
Minister Franz But.
