"Extremists cannot solve problems, only reasonable politicians
can," Jakovcic said in an interview for Croatian Television on
Thursday evening.
Speaking about the sharpened situation in Slovenia today, Jakovcic
said that a march would allegedly be held outside of the house of
Jozko Joras on Saturday. "I must say that it is really a tragedy that
Joras who, in my opinion, is a political clown, became a national
hero of a country. I believe that such a country does not have great
European prospects. In Croatia we already had a lot of experience
with various fake heroes, this is why I'm using this opportunity to
call on all citizens in Istria County and all Croatian citizens to
with dignity hold out against the pressure by extremists," Jakovcic
said.
The Istria County prefect also called on politicians, fishermen and
fellow citizens to show "dignity and absolute European
orientation."
Jozko Joras, a Slovene citizen residing in Croatia's Mlini in
Istria County, was arrested on August 21 and sent to Pula County
prison to serve a 30 day prison sentence because he failed to pay
fines.
Joras attracted media attention because he does not recognise
Croatia's sovereignty even though he lives in Mlina in the Buje
region. Joras claims that his house is on the Slovene territory.
