Bosnian and Yugoslav national soccer teams.

match between the Bosnian and Yugoslav national soccer teams. #L#
Disgruntled with the fact that their team lost the match 0:2 to the
Yugoslav team, Bosnian football fans showered with stones and
bottles Yugoslav fans, mostly from the Bosnian Serb entity, while
they were leaving the stadium.
Special police units were sent to prevent more serious conflicts
and Serb fans left Sarajevo shortly after midnight under tight
security measures.
The Sarajevo daily "Oslobodjenje" reported that unidentified
persons had set up a barricade at a roads near the Kosevo stadium
after the match, checking the passengers' IDs looking for those
from the Bosnian Serb entity or Yugoslavia.
Eye-witnesses claim at least one car with Montenegrin registration
plates was demolished and its driver beaten up.
Yugoslav fans shouted nationalist slogans, and the Dnevni Avaz
daily claims they were joined by the captain of the Yugoslav team,
Sinisa Mihajlovic, who raised his hand to show the Serb three-
finger greeting.
The Sarajevo media are mostly angry with the domestic team and its
poor performance as well as with the leadership of the Bosnian
Soccer Association.
During the march, which was covered live, the host repeatedly
reminded the audience that selector Blaz Sliskovic promised to
resign if his team was defeated by Yugoslavia and in the first
European Championship qualification match, which is played against
Romania on September 9.
