PRISTINA, August 21 (Hina)- The Kosovo government is prepared to closely cooperate with the international community and has no intention to increase tension by having issued a statement that the government will arrest former members
of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVK). On the contrary, the intention is to defuse tension and resolve problems through institutions, Kosovo Prime Minister Bajram Rexhepi said in Pristina on Wednesday after talks with the head of the Italian Office in Pristina, Pascal Falcan.

Commenting on Tuesday's reaction by the European Union in response
to the statement by the Kosovo government, Rexhepi said that the
reaction was expected, however, it also supported the Kosovo
government's programme. He emphasised that the government had no
intentions to defend those who had committed crimes. Instead, it
would defend the values of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
In a statement by the Kosovo government about arresting war crimes
suspects on Monday, it estimated that this referred to politically
motivated arrests.
