Croatia's Mesic said that a cooperation agreement signed by the two
countries' chambers of commerce earlier today was but the framework
of economic cooperation. It has to be followed by agreements on the
avoidance of double taxation and free trade, he said.
Mesic stated that Croatian-Moldovan trade was meagre even though
economic interest was high. Moldova is interested in Croatia's
experience in tourism, while Croatia is interested in Moldova's
high potentials in the agriculture and food-processing industries,
he said.
According to Mesic, regional initiatives in which both countries
participate have to be used in the economic sense even more than
now.
President Voronin said Moldova was interested in foreign
investments and was drawing up legislation aimed at wholly
protecting foreign investors.
He called on Croatian and Moldovan businessmen to find new fields of
cooperation.
