Because provisions in the collective agreement are not being
adhered to, employees have suffered damages of about 1.36 million
euros since 1999, the president of the SPH, Dubravko Jagic, said at
a press conference on Friday.
He added that the because the rights of policemen were not being
respected by their employer, some 400 lawsuits had been filed - one
ruled in their favour. New suits were announced by policemen.
"By rejecting to pay overtime, the Interior Ministry is causing
additional costs to the state as a result of court suits where the
Ministry is obliged to pay interest as well as damages," Jagic
warned.
Apart from that, he considers it impermissible that police, whose
salaries had been cut drastically, were not paid holiday bonuses of
136 euros while at the same time certain budget beneficiaries were
paid bonuses of four times that amount.
