Gradac near Glina, the Sisak-Moslavina police reported on Tuesday.
SISAK, July 23 (Hina) - A Croatian citizen, who was wanted by the
Croatian Interior Ministry on suspicion that he committed war
crimes during the Homeland Defence War, was arrested at 04.50 pm on
Monday for attempted murder in Veliki Gradac near Glina, the Sisak-
Moslavina police reported on Tuesday. #L#
The police did not disclose the identity of the nabbed man while
criminal proceedings were under way. He was handed over to the
investigating judge in Sisak County Court who ordered him into
custody.
The Glina police established that the war crimes suspect came to the
house of S.K (aged 46) in Veliki Gradac near Glina on Monday, July 22
at about 6.30 am where he took an axe. He entered the house through
an unlocked door and attempted to hit S.K over the head with the axe
who defended himself and managed to escape. The suspect caught S.K
in the yard and hit him with the axe across the body slightly
injuring him.
S.K. then managed to escape while the suspect hit S.C. (aged 36) the
householder's de facto wife who had come out of the house. After
that the suspect ran off into an unknown direction and later was
found and arrested by the Glina police.
The Sisak police are trying to establish the motive for the attack
on S.K. and his wife S.C.
