The opening of the laboratory was financed with a World Bank loan,
which is part of a project aimed at reducing patient waiting lists.
Health Minister Andro Vlahusic said that similar laboratories
would be opened in another clinic in Zagreb, as well as in Split and
Rijeka in the next three months.
The laboratory, which will have a team of five top experts, makes
the Dubrava clinic the leading cardiology centre in Croatia.
The first angiography in the centre was performed in 1989. Next
year, the centre is to perform 2,000 such procedures in the
treatment of heart diseases.
