ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - The Court of Honour of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) on Tuesday unanimously decided to
unconditionally oust Ivic Pasalic from the party. #L#
The decision in writing will be issued in a couple of days, and
Pasalic has the right to appeal to the HDZ National Committee, court
of honour president Florijan Boras said after a court session
today.
Boras recalled that the HDZ Presidency on June 26 initiated
disciplinary proceedings against Pasalic for grave violations of
party duties. Pasalic had said that party president Ivo Sanader and
the entire party leadership had been elected illegally, claiming on
several occasions that the present composition of the party was not
competent to lead the country, and that it would be a fiasco even if
it won the elections, Boras said.
The initiator of the procedure was the party presidency. HDZ
Secretary-General Branko Vukelic was present at today's session on
behalf of those who proposed the procedure.
During the rule of former President Franjo Tudjman, Pasalic, as
Tudjman's advisor and senior party official, was one of the most
powerful people in the country.
The media connected Pasalic with numerous affairs, but his
responsibility was never proven.
