ZAGREB, July 9 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday
met the President of the Indian Parliament, Monohar Joshi, with
whom he discussed bilateral relations and the fight against
international terrorism, the President's Office said. #L#
Bilateral relations between the two countries were described as
positive by both sides with a note that there were possibilities and
the potential to advance them, the Office said.
President Mesic spoke in particular about the importance of so-
called parliamentary diplomacy, stressing that MPs were the
closest to citizens and as such had the best information about
problems in their country.
Joshi expressed a wish for the Croatian president to officially
visit India.
Replying to questions by members of Indian parliamentarians
accompanying Joshi, Mesic spoke about the genesis of the
disintegration of the former Yugoslavia and the development of
democracy in Croatia.
