The court in the Slovene capital abandoned further proceedings
after it assessed that there was a lack of evidence for prosecuting
this general, the Maribor-based daily "Vecer" said on Sunday.
Aksentijevic will be officially notified of the discontinuation of
the process through diplomatic channels, as his place of abode is
formally registered in the Serbian town of Kragujevac, but the
retired general is in Slovenia.
After the defeat of the then JNA in Slovenia in July 1991, Gen.
Aksentijevic was transferred from the Ljubljana military district
to Zagreb at the post of the deputy commander of the then "Fifth
Military District" of the Yugoslav Army. He was arrested and later
exchanged for Croatian soldiers.
Aksentijevic was retired in Serbia in 1992. He receives a Yugoslav
pension of some 150 euros, but it is insufficient for the life in
Slovenia where he actually lives. He has launched court proceedings
for obtaining a Slovenian pension as well.
